Hello, I'm back in Sheffield. The journey up was an exciting adventure because of snow! It went something like this:

Also! I've built a fort. Pictures of snow and fort tomorrow when I get my camera out of The Tuckmobile.

I'm back "home" in Folkestone (, well, Newington) for Christmas. The journey south was planned to intersect with Daf's journey west from Cambridge to Wales. We met in Coventry, which just happens to be where Dave lives. I finnaly got a chance to play with Gary's Mod (which is a Half-Life II mod); it is really, really, really, amazing. I'm actually considering buying HLII, just so I can install this, even though I don't have a PC that will run it.

Folkestone is rather dull. I was convinced to take the bloody coach rather than the motorcycle by my mother. Bloody coach. I hate the coach. I hate not having my bike here also. Pah. Also, we don't have the internet.

No Internet + No transport = No fun.

I would like to spend my days over in Lyminge fiddling about with my new acquisition: Mum's old 1978 MOD Series III 109" Land Rover. Cor! But I can't, for it is far away. Poo.

I had a dream last night, wherein I really, really wanted some nice corn flakes with cold milk and chopped banana. In this dream I went to Tesco and bought some corn flakes, took them home and poured myself a bowl. They tasted disgusting. Blurgh. I inspected the packet again, to find that although packaged exactly like corn flakes, I had accidentally bought oven chips. Closer examination of my meal showed that, yes indeed, I was eating cold oven chips with milk.

Equation:
Corn Flakes > Oven Chips.

Hurrah! I finnaly wrote and sent a letter to my Grandparents. It was to say "thank you" for sending me some money in August.

See [info]superfluffy, I told you.

Also. Let's coo over the cat:

Also, also. [info]scummoth, do you have any bicycle wheels left?

Haha! I opened the fridge last night and put my hand in, and it was warmer in there than in the living room.

Now we have the heating on.

Today, I realised that, what with the next rent installment and whatnot approaching, I probably need a couple of dozen quids buffer in the old bank account, so I decided I need to do some work in order to acquire said cash, and mooched on down to a random West Street agency to see what I could find.

I was sitting there on some modular office seating by a small wood-laminate coffee table. Beside me was a water cooler and a nicely trimmed plant in a pot. People in ties and shirts and shiny shoes sat at desks typing on computers. Surveying this scene, a revelation came to me:

I am a scruffy bastard.

Nobody else had burn marks on their jumper, holes in their trousers, or mud and engine oil on their boots. They all looked like they had washed their faces this morning. probably their hair too. Am I really this much messier in appearance than the entire British workforce, or have I just walked into the cleanest place in the world?

Anyway. Steps to take to resolve problem:
- Wash the dinner from my smart "signing on day" trousers.
- Acquire posh shirt from charity shop. The "Ciro Citierio" label on my old sixth form shirt is no longer enough to qualify this as "the smart shirt", thanks to multiple holes.
- Polish boots.

+=Fun.

The left hand image is a Kettcar. A small pedal toy for children.
The right hand image is Blake Street. It's really, really, steep. It's also where we live.

Speeds of upto 30mph were recoreded. Bob achieved a 360 degree spin (and a ankle injury). Jamie achieved deep leg injury and a trip to casualty. My crash helmet has a few new scars too.

I don't think anyone but me wants to play that game anymore.

Thanks to the large quantity of random factors that constitute my relationship with a girl named El, yesterday evening at 11:30 was mutually deemed to be a good time for us to spend some time together. Duly (and to the confusion of housemates) I set off on the old Sheffield to Worcester trek on the motorcycle.

We have made cheese.

It may taste foul, and it may have a frankly disappointing milk input to cheese output ratio, but never the less, we have made cheese.

"Fumbling haplessly while trying to open a compact disc or a packet of ham has become a daily headache of modern life."

HELLO. TRYING TO OPEN THIS HAM IS GIVING ME A HEADACHE.

Bloody hell.

Today, using the excuse of a Birthday, we sent [info]futureofrock off on a treasure hunt/quest to find his present, which we had thoughtfully buried at the allotments. It was reached by following merry trail of clues, riddles, and maps, which despite the heavy logistics* and high level of co-ordination required, was actually resounding success. Win!

* logistics can partly be read as "rain"

Last night, for the first time since I left University halls (end of June, 2004), I have had my own proper bedding. For the period in between then and now, I've slumbered either in my sleeping bag (mostly), or in someone else's bed (occasionally).

Anyway, yesterday I gathered together a set of bedding from other people's old sheets and communal house blankets and tried it out, and I not sure I like it. My sleeping bag is like a second home to me, and though these sheets may smell clean, they just don't smell right. I'm considering changing back.

christian book
(Clicky for bigger)

From an American children's colouring/activity book called 'Listen and Do', copyright 1954. For the lazy, the captions on the page read:

Here is a man of India.
He is praying to his god.
His god cannot help him.
This man must know about Jesus.
Can you think of some ways to help him?

Matt's favourite part? Budda isn't even a god. Hurrah!

Recently, my household has aquired two things of note, both of which I have mentioned on here. These are:

1x electric organ.
1x cat.

These two items have just been combined in the most wonderful fashion:

THE CAT IS WALKING ON THE ORGAN KEYBOARD.

Oh yes.
